I'm suppose to post something on Refashion Co-op at least once every 30 days, and I was already behind few days. So, I decided to make something simple and quick so that I can post it within the day, and I thought t-shirt is the perfect choice for quick refashion.
Here's before and after:
And here's a little tutorial on how to make this top.
First take one large t-shirt and your favourite fitted top, fold it in half and do the same to the t-shirt. Make sure you top has the same stretch with the tee for a perfect fit.Lay the top on the tee and cut around it adding 2cm for seam allowance. Do not cut through the shoulder seam.
Sew the sides, armsyces, and the neckline. You now have a fitted top.
Now, for the draping centrepiece details. Take the t-shirt bottom remnant, cut the original hem and side seams so that you have two equal wide strips. The width is not important just as long as it's not too narrow. There's no need to serge the raw edges as knitted jersey fabric doesn't fray.
Join and sew the strips lengthwise to make one wide strip
Gather or pleat one end of the strip, and sew it to neckline centre. I did mine by pleating the strip while having the top on so I can make sure that the strip is right in the middle of the neckline.Sew the other end to the top's hem, and it's done!
Quick and simple refashion to transform a boring t-shirt to chic top.
I absolutely love it ! I hope you like it too :-)
