BurdaStyle 03-2012-121B: Wrap Top

Pattern Description:
Wrap top with wide waist band ties. Short sleeve and long sleeve version. I opted the latter.

Pattern and Technical Drawing:

Pattern Sizing:
36-44. I made my usual size 40 without adding any seam allowance since I'm using stretch fabric.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes,mostly. The only part that slightly differs from the magazine picture is the neckline. The magazine picture shows a much narrower, perfect V-neck than mine.
Modell Photo

Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were easy.

Constructions:
Here's the main bodice, before the tie bands were attached.

and here's after...

Close-Up View:

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the wrap style. The wide tie bands make it different from typical wrap top. It'd make a fun layering piece,as Burda describes it as "its subdued elegance go well with trousers and skirts".
No dislike.

Fabric Used:
Silk Jersey

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did not alter anything, but maybe I should have. I'd like the neckline to be much narrower, so maybe adding extra seam allowance to the neckline edges would tackle this problem. One thing that I should've noted was that the pattern calls to use the front neck edges as self- facing so I need to have extra fabric there. Apart from that, I could have just cut the back and the tie bands on fold, I don't really see the point of having the centre back cut when the pattern does not calls for zipper.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Though I really love this style, I do not have any plan to sew another one for now.
But I definitely recommend it to others.

Conclusion:
I love it! great style, perfect fit, and fun to wear.
A must-try pattern!

Gorgeous! The fabric looks pretty luxurious. I like how the wraparound piece never seems bulky. Bet you'll wear this one a lot!
